Interview Tips

Dear Readers,

I am getting emails from my juniors requesting to share some interview tips. Let me put this word first i am not an human resource expert as such, but with my professional experience and the things that i have learnt will be more enough to this post i hope. In-case if i am wrong somewhere please correct me.

Attending an interview is not a big task unless until if you have few stuffs in your brain and clear vision in your life. Following points will help you to get prepared for a interview.

  1. Plan Ahead : Little homework is required. Check the companies official webpage and read who are they and what are they doing? Try to get details of who is CEO and regional heads.
  2. Be on Time: Avoid driving yourself in bikes, go for public transit or car should be fine. The reason is bikes will make your dress dusty and in case of more heat / rain it will mess your dress more easily. Reach 30 mins before your interview time, as many of the companies have some formalities of filling forms and other registrations @ receptions.
  3. Switch off your Cell phone: A Mandatory task for everyone. Remember getting this job is gonna change your life talking over cell phone can be done at any time. Don't mute it switch it off nothing is gonna happen in 1hr call break. 4/5 people don't turn off their cell phones during interview which will annoy the interviewer. It may result to loose your interview.
  4. Bring Resume : Bring 2/3 copies of your resume that you have sent to that company. Make sure you don't lie on your resume.
  5. Dress professionally: Make sure you have dressed very neat. I am sure you are good in that.
  6. Avoid Badmouth: If you are a fresher don't give any negative feedback about your college and if you are a job holder please don't tell bad about your previous manager.
  7. Self Discipline: Behave yourself once you enter into the company for interview. Every single moment is screened from you enter until you exit. Don't talk stories with your co-friends who came for interview.
  8. Eye Contact: It's must and known thing. It will express your truthfulness and your boldness. So keep your eye contact with all your interviewers.
  9. Ask Questions: Once your interview is over it's a common thing that your interviewer will ask you "Do you have anything to ask us?" Don't simply say NO. You should make sure you have some questions to ask him/her other than asking to them like "Am i selected?". If he didn't give this chance you can put your question yourself. This will reinforces your interest towards this job.
  10. Give a Thank Note: Make sure you thank him before you leave the room.
Use your common sense everywhere that's more enough.
